We want to hear your phone box stories.
What did you use this phone box for? To call for assistance, get happy news, talk with your boy or girlfriend who was far away?
Way of the Wharves are creating an audio archive of phone box stories.
We already heard from Sophie who told us her father was a policeman, before the times of personal radios and phones. When he was on his beat he had to stop at specified phone boxes to phone the police station and speak with his sergeant. That was how he reported in without walking back to the police station. He then received further orders, if it was quiet this would usually be to ‘continue on your beat to the next phone box and report in’.
